Sometimes age has very little to do with wisdom, as my children constantly remind me. When I first started writing the Holiday Outlook in 1987, Christmas decorations didn't go up until after Thanksgiving. Most of us waited until the days before Christmas to make our holiday purchases. It was a season when retailers could count on higher sales and better margins, while the rest of us scraped through January to make ends meet.
Those days are long gone . . .
