Two Market Leaders Combine to Form the Leading Media Network
Dedicated to Reaching the Valuable College and Recent Graduate Audience
Reaching the valuable 18- to 24-year-old college-educated consumer audience has become a lot easier. Y2M, a strategic marketing services company focused on the college and recent graduate market, has acquired New Digital Group Inc.'s media assets, a network of online college newspapers. The acquisition makes Y2M the leading national provider of network-based, interactive advertising inventory and content management solutions for the college media landscape.
The combination of Y2M-subsidiary College Publisher, an online publishing system designed specifically for college newspapers and the needs of campus newsrooms, and New Digital Group will provide campus newspapers with web-based solutions allowing multiple users to control all facets of digital publishing, including content management, multimedia administration and online advertising.
College Publisher's enhanced capability creates the only network of its kind to reach the campus media market. The combined entity will represent a national network of websites serving more than 450 college newspapers with more than 1.7 million registered users.
College Publisher will manage relationships with more than 60 daily campus newspapers, resulting in a 70 percent market share of newspapers with daily frequencies. Its exclusive partnerships with college newspapers deliver advertisements and content on behalf of companies that target this key demographic to campuses with a combined enrollment of more than five million students. According to Media Metrix, the Y2M network of sites is 92 percent more likely to deliver an 18- to 24-year-old audience than any other site on the web.
"Y2M's marketing channels allow advertisers to deliver brand messaging to a high-value, high-impact, referral-based community. Our acquisition of New Digital Group creates one of the only integrated media platforms in the country for blue-chip brands looking to communicate with college students and recent graduates through official campus media," said John T. Fees, president of Y2M. "During a time of rapid changes in media habits by this generation, this integrated technology platform creates a reliable and effective way for brands to reach college students and alumni".
New Digital Group's roster of online college newspapers includes more than 130 campus publications including The Iowa State Daily of Iowa State University, The Daily Pennsylvanian of the University of Pennsylvania and The Daily Nebraskan of the University of Nebraska. The College Publisher network currently serves more than 320 papers, including The Lantern of Ohio State University; the Daily Texan of the University of Texas, Austin and the Daily Iowan of the University of Iowa.
"It was crucial for New Digital Group to find the right home for our newspaper partners, and I am confident that College Publisher will continue to provide excellent service and technology to college newspapers," said David Hahn, chief executive officer of New Digital Group. "The integration of these two content management providers will provide unparalleled back-end usability and the best of front-end design, helping college newspapers make even better use of their online editions."
