The Christman Group, a Chicago based investment banking firm, is pleased to announce that it has established a full time presence in Indianapolis. 

 

John Gibbs and Dennis Erwin have been named Managing Directors of The Christman Group's Indiana office and will be responsible for serving clients throughout Indiana and the surrounding states.

John R. Gibbs is an accomplished corporate executive and entrepreneur. He has over 25 years' experience with public and private companies; including merger and acquisitions, strategic relationships, transaction negotiations, corporate development, initial public offering, and secondary or follow-on placements.

 

John Gibbs co-founded Interactive Intelligence, Inc. (Nasdaq:ININ) in 1994, and retired after ten years. With John's leadership, ININ went from a start-up to a successful global public software company within 5 years.

 

Mr. Gibbs is very active in business, civic and academic arenas. In addition, John has received several awards recognizing his business acumen and the contributions he has made to Indiana and Indianapolis.  John was a co-recipient of the Ernst & Young 'Entrepreneur of the Year' Award for Indiana in 2000.

Dennis Erwin is a seasoned entrepreneur and finance professional with more than 17 years of experience working with middle market businesses. During his career, Mr. Erwin has originated, structured, negotiated and closed the sales of seven private companies, led eight acquisitions and buyouts - often participating as principal - and completed over one billion dollars of financing for clients or partners.

 

Prior to joining the Christman Group, Mr. Erwin founded a boutique investment banking firm that assisted owners of middle market companies in achieving aggressive growth objectives through mergers and acquisitions. In addition to executing transactions, typical projects included intensive hands-on assistance to position and prepare business owners for strategic acquisitions or to sell their companies.

 

Mr. Erwin has been particularly successful helping private business owners sell to global public companies for maximum value, in addition to guiding management teams through the process of buying their companies and positioning them for eventual sale. During his years in the business he also has experience in restructuring troubled companies to restore operations or maximize value through a sale of the business.
